Scotland has become a reachable destination with various attractions, including wonderful nature and mountains, historcal monuments, and it is full of entertainments. When you arrive here, be ready to experience the best of Scotland, where Scottish people welcome the tourists with pleasure. Travelling by car is the best way to get to know the country.

After arriving at Edinburgh, you can rent a car at the airport and begin your trip. Make sure you have some time to explore Edinburgh itself which is very beautiful with its architecture and has many entertainments to offer.

The city has several panoramic view points such as Calton Hill and Arthur's seat. Edinburgh castle can be a starting point of the trip continuing downhill the Royal Mile afterwards. It is the main street of Edinburgh terminating at Holyrood Palace, the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland, Queen Elizabeth II. In the city you will also find a variety of cafes, restaurants, souvenir and whisky shops with reasonable prices. After reaching the Holyrood Palace you can turn towards Holyrood Park and admire Edinburgh from the Arthur's seat where you can enjoy a cup of coffee with a spectacular view of the city. Another option is to turn towards the Calton Hill offering the view to the old town of Edinburgh and Leith, the port of the city. History lovers should visit the Edinburgh castle and the National Museum of Scotland including the Royal Scottish Museum. 

One of the most popular souvenirs to buy in Edinburgh is kilt, a traditional Scottish skirt, for the price starting at 30 Eur, while the original kilt could cost around 300 Eur. Other souvenirs to buy are a Scottish wallet and socks.

From Edinburgh you could continue your trip to the largest city in Scotland - Glasgow. 

We offer another itinerary for nature lovers travelling through Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. This is a wonderful park that could take a week to discover. These lands are a favourite topic of Scottish poets of its hills covered by colours in autumn, looking like pied Scottish kilts. You can see the reflections of hills in the lakes, one of which is the Loch Lomond lake. Here you can rent a boat to go for a sail or take one of many walking routes to discover the nature. After that you can continue your trip taking the road A82 which runs along the lake for about 15 miles (~20 kilometres). 

Autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons to to travel in Scotland when mountains, fields and forests are covered with colours. Road A82 could be included among the most impressive mountain roads. Following this road further from the Loch Lomond lake you will reach Scottish Highlands. Along the road there are many points to stop at the most beautiful places to admire the scenery and capture the moment.

A82 road is wide and well maintained. It is surrounded by mountains with peaks covered with snow already in November.

If you stop at the Fort William turn to Mallaig, you will see the highest mountain in the British Isles - Ben Nevis.

Another place to visit, popular among Harry Potter lovers, is the Glenfinnan Viaduct. During the season the train here passes few times blowing out the smoke for the crowd of tourists to capture. This picture was taken not far from the parkng. 

Taking the road to Mallaig you can cross the river to the Isle of Skye. The last ferry leaves at 6 pm. If you miss it, there is another way around passing by the Eilean Donan Castle.

Eilean Donan Castle is between the western Highlands of Scotland and the Isle of Skye. You can also visit the inside of the castle.

The symbol of the Scottish Highlands is long-haired Scottish cattle. Sometimes they come close the road you can give a stroke to their offsprings and play with them.

From Eilean Donan Castle, you are just 15 minutes away from the Isle of Skye. Here you will find high mountains, mountain pastures with sheeps and Scottish cattles, white houses like the ones in the postcards, steep cliffs and piscatorial ports. Here you will be able to taste some good quality whisky and traditional Scottish dish Haggis. Roads here vary from wide to one-way roads with  places to pass with other cars. In many of those places there are high limits to 6.5 feet (2 meters). You will have no problems in finding a place to stay as Scottish people will welcome you to stay at their homes. We recommend to spend at least two days for the Isle of Skye: one for the South coast and the other for the North coast. The Isle of Skye is a popular destination so you should reserve a place to stay in advance.

The Old Man of Storr is a walking route in the Isle of Skye. There is a parking lot downhill and then you take footpaths up the hill.

The Isle of Skye might surprise with its constantly changing weather when the sun could be shining for 15 minutes, then followed by a sudden rain, after which the sun might show up again and be later covered with a blanket of fog which is dissipated by the wind, etc., especially in November. The changing weather gives an opportunity to see the same place differently in a short period of time.

Classic white houses with grey tile roofs are common in the area.

In the Neist Point Lighthouse zone you will see an impressive lighthouse. If you have some time from here you can also visit the Talisker Distillery of whisky. 

Sligachan Seumas Bar is a perfect place to taste some traditional food for reasonable prices, including the most popular Haggis. Here you can also choose among different whisky tasting offers.

Leaving the isle, you can take the route towards Invermoriston where you can visit The Clog and Craft Shop to buy some local leather.

After Invermoriston you can continue your trip to Loch Ness and visit the Urquhart Castle where, it is believed, the Loch Ness monster has been seen. 

Finally, you are at the end of the road A82 - Iverness. This city is well known for the novel "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon, which was later adapted to the TV series. Iverness is a beautiful city worth spending here some time. A true "Outlander" lover might start looking for 'Craigh Na Dun', a circle of stones site, but will find none. The real 'Craigh Na Dun' are just a five minutes drive to Clava Cairns. Near this place there is Culloden field where the Scottish lost the battle to the Brittish. 

From Iverness you can also go to the Tomatin Distillery of whisky and take the guided tour here, if you want to get to know the history and the processes of the Scottish whisky making.

From here you can go back to Edinburgh.
