The Fountain of Giants in Naples

The realization is by Bernini and Michelangelo Naccherino at the request of Don Antonio Alvarez of Toledo. It was placed in the street that took the name of Salita del Gigante, near the fountain that can still be seen in Via Partenope. The fountain has three round arches supported by 4 pillars. Under the central arch there is a basin supported by two marine animals. The side arches have two gods that hold sea monsters in their hands. At the end there are two caryatids that support the cornucopia. Above each arch there are the city's coats of arms.

Excavations of Pompei

In 62 AD a violent earthquake struck the entire Vesuvian area. In Pompeii the reconstruction began immediately, but 17 years after the sudden eruption of Vesuvius buried it with ashes. There has always been an exploration of the territory up to the most recent interventions of excavation, restoration and enhancement of the ancient city and its exceptional heritage of architecture, sculptures, paintings, mosaics. The Temple of Apollo and the Basilica overlook the square, the seat of the court and center of economic life. The Temple of Vespasian overlooks the Forum, the Granaries where cereals were collected for sale, the covered market for fresh foodstuffs, such as meat and fish. On the most important artery of the city, there were craft shops, inns, dry cleaners, houses and the Stabian Baths, the oldest Pompeian plant.

The Royal Palace of Caserta

The Royal Palace of Caserta is one of the most magnificent and splendid buildings that a sovereign has ever built. It was built by Luigi Vanvitelli at the request of Charles of Bourbon who was ready to ascend the throne. The Royal Palace includes 1,200 rooms with 1,742 windows, but in Vanvitelli's project there was also the chapel, the lodgings for military troops, the theater as well as those rooms that were intended for the royal family. As soon as you enter we find 4 courtyards, one of these called Golden staircase because it includes 116 steps and leads to the vestibule. To visit this great piece of history, there are about 30 rooms available. We also find the Palatine Chapel which was the place destined for the celebration of the sacred rites of the royal family, strongly desired by the king. The library includes 5 rooms, two for reading and three for reading volumes.

Gastronomy

Restaurant "TheTrinlinio del Faun"

It is a farm that rises on the hills surrounding the city center of Benevento. The semi-divided room is composed of a larger space and inside the ceiling takes the form of the ancient Roman cross vaults. The triclinium has been a refined meeting place since the age of the ancient Romans. The Romans used to gather in this "dining room" from early afternoon until late at night. Here they spent their time lying down eating, drinking wine. The faun in the first Greek and then Roman mythology is the divinity that represents the spirit of the woods. The restaurant is therefore the temple of refreshment and sacredness.

Local food

Neapolitan pizza

Known for being the home of pizza, Naples boasts a number of pizza makers who have refined their art over the centuries. The first news about Neapolitan pizza dates back to Vincenzo Corrado
when in the mid-eighteenth century he wrote a treatise on the eating habits of the city of Naples, in which he observed how it was customary for the people to season pizza and macaroni with tomato. Those same observations constitute the date of birth of the Neapolitan pizza, a thin disc of pasta seasoned with tomato. To enjoy the more traditional pizza, try the Margherita Pizza with tomatoes, mozzarella, a drizzle of olive oil and basil leaves.
